Join the RIAI and the Heritage Contractors Register for this live online CPD event, led by Fergus McCormick, RIAI Conservation Architect Grade 1 and Senior Architect at the OPW.

Course Aim

The aim of the course is to showcase how the conservation and repair works undertaken by the OPW are helping to safeguard Sceilg Mhichí, a UNESCO World Heritage site, from the impacts of climate change.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this course attendees will be able to:

  1. Understand the effects of climate change on the Sceilg Mhichíl world heritage site
  2. Identify the conservation, preservation, and protection measures undertaken by the OPW to maintain the island’s heritage

Speaker

Fergus Mc Cormick is a Senior Architect and RIAI Conservation Architect Grade 1 working on conservation and repair projects in the OPW Killarney National Monument District. Fergus has extensive experience working on historic buildings and structures in Ireland, the UK and Germany.
