Voluntary Register of Architectural Technologists

Architectural Technologists

Architects and Architectural Technologists are complementary professionals that deliver excellence in the built environment.  Architectural Technologists are a key profession within the design team, often coordinating outputs from engineering and other built environment professionals with particular responsibility for the preparation of production information such as working drawings, schedules and specifications as well as site surveys, administrative procedures to do with building regulations, fire safety certificates, planning applications, the building contract, etc. Some Architectural Technologists develop specialisations in particular areas, such as specification writing, technology, materials, regulations, CAD or BIM.

The profession of Architectural Technologist is not a regulated profession in Ireland and RIAI Architectural Technologist membership is not required to undertake the profession in the State.

The RIAI Voluntary Register of Architectural Technologists provides a listing of all active RIAI Architectural Technologist Members who have opted into the voluntary register.

The RIAI believes that clear professional definitions will lead to better understanding of the different skills and competencies for each profession, provide clarity to the public, and provide greater consumer protection.
