The starting pay for new entrants will be at the minimum of the scale and the rate of remuneration may be adjusted from time to time in line with Government pay policy.

Job Description

The Executive Architectural Technician will be involved in the production of drawings and documents relating to the design, tender and construction of new-build, refurbishment, and maintenance projects to be carried out by the Council and other Contractors.

This work will involve ensuring technical compliance with the Building Regulations and other statutory technical standards including calculations of building performance under a range of environmental headings including BER analysis and the use of specialist programmes such as DEAP. 

On-site inspections to maintain quality control will form part of the job duties.

Architectural Services are also provided at regional level in each of the 4 Municipal Districts where collaboration with the local communities, planners and other state agencies is key to enhancing the respective localities.

The Executive Architectural Technician may/will be required to supervise other technical staff under the direction of the Senior Architect.

Job Requirements

Each candidate must, on the latest date for receipt of completed application forms:

  1. have satisfactory experience and qualification, in an Architectural Technician post at Grade II or higher level or in an analogous post under a local authority or health board in the State or an analogous/equivalent post.
  2. have at least five years satisfactory relevant experience in an Architectural Technician post at Grade II or higher level or an analogous/equivalent post, in the delivery of Architectural Works including housing and/or other capital works.
  3. have a wide knowledge of all the technical and building delivery aspects of Architectural Technology within local authority or an analogous/equivalent post.
  4. possess adequate training and experience relating to dealings with other departments within their own organisations and with other bodies, and
  5. have adequate experience in the supervision and control of staff.
