The 18th century building lay vacant for several years before the IGS leased it from DCC. It was sensitively was restored, a new lift inserted, and the octagonal room reinstated as an exhibition space with full climate control. The IGS then recreated the first exhibition held in the building by the Society of Artists in 1766. The City Assembly House is a significant addition to one of the local community and a new tourist destination for visitors to Dublin.
