Call-out for projects for house + design 2025

Have you completed a residential project in 2024 and are interested in publication?  The call-out for projects for house + design 2025 is now open. house + design is the RIAI’s unique consumer publication featuring only architect-designed homes alongside professional advice to support those planning to build, renovate or extend. Published annually in May, the magazine attracts strong sales and has a dedicated following and is available from the RIAI bookshop as well as newsagents nationwide.

We are looking for projects that demonstrate design quality and are an innovative response to the challenges and opportunities that exist in our towns and urban neighbourhoods:

• Homes that have been renovated and / or adapted from vacant, under-used or formerly non-residential properties
• Design solutions that promote densification through the use of infill sites
• Design solutions that address climate change
• Homes that sensitively address their context, whether urban or rural
• Apartment renovations that maximise space and comfort for the occupants

Projects must be designed by a Registered Architect, have been completed within the last 12 months and have not been published in another Irish magazine.

What you need to submit:

• A PDF of max 5 pages with a selection of photos, drawings and a short text (100 words) that tell the story of your project and why it merits publication.
• Photos should include context, interiors,  and ‘before and after’ in the case of renovations
• Photographs need to present homes as ‘lived-in’ with furniture, people, pets, accessories, as our readers are interested in this level of detail
• Professional photography must be available at the time of publication (early April) but interim photos can be submitted for the initial call-out
• Drawings should include site plan, floor plans and sections – before and after floor plans are very helpful to the reader
• All selected projects will be required to submit a detailed list of suppliers to assist our commercial team*.

*house + design is published in a highly competitive sector, with much competition from other consumer magazines, therefore the publishers will seek your support in identifying specialist contractors and suppliers and products who could be interested in supporting the magazine through advertising.

Please submit your project to our production manager Georgina Nichols, georgina.nichols@architectureireland.ie by Friday 17 January. Submissions are for consideration by the Editorial Board and Editor Dr Sandra O'Connell.

We are also interested in short 100-200 word proposals for articles on a topical issue relating to residential design.
